It’s time for another poll. This time I would like to know how much time do you spend on Twitter each day. Did you ever check how much time did you spend tweeting and reading tweets, checking all these links people post and reading your new follower’s profiles? Time goes by really fast when you do something fun. Click here to continue reading.
If you want to stay on top of what is going on with your or someone else’s online brand (blog or website), you will want to pay attention to what is being said or who links to it. Searching for keywords and hashtags on Twitter will not be good enough for you. You will want to search for website links as well. But since pretty much everyone on Twitter uses an URL shortening service, Twitter’s search will not return good results. Click here to continue reading.
In all its greatness Twitter does not offer direct image sharing. Whether this is good or bad is up to you to decide. But because of that, a large number of third-party services have been developed to fill that need. I made a list of the 7 most popular photo sharing services for Twitter. I will sort the list alphabetically. Click here to continue reading.
A couple of weeks ago TwitPic finally got a real competitor. It’s a new free photo sharing service for Twitter called TweetPhoto. And it will, as they say, significantly improve photo sharing experience on Twitter.
Similar to TwitPic, TweetPhoto users can easily upload photos and TweetPhoto will automatically publish those photos and turn them into tweets on Twitter. You use your Twitter name and password to use the site. It also supports uploads by email or mobile, and comments, but that’s where the similarities with TwitPic end. Click here to continue reading.
Trying to find new friends on Twitter? Since Twitter’s search doesn’t offer enough in the way of people search features, finding interesting people to follow could be a giant time sink. Luckily there are quite a few Twitter directories that you can use to find new people to follow. Twitter directories are places to search and find new Twitter users to follow based on your own interests. In this post I will list 20 Twitter directories where you can search people with similar interests and where you can submit your Twitter profile to get listed and get more followers. The list is alphabetically ordered. Click here to continue reading.
Whether you use Twitter for personal or professional use, most people recommend that you use both your first name and last name in your Twitter username. But using your name isn’t always possible. What if your name has already been taken? Or if your name is too long? Don’t worry, read on.
If you have chosen a bad name when you signed up with Twitter, change it as soon as possible and if you are new to the service, I suggest you take some time and get a good username. With Twitter’s rapid growth it’s probably already too late to get the name you want for your Twitter profile. But don’t give up and settle for some crap name. As I will show you below, there’s always something to come up with. Click here to continue reading.
In one of my previous posts (How to get more people to retweet you on Twitter), I mentioned that asking for a retweet usually increases chances of being retweeted. I guess it all depends on the content of a tweet, but in my experience at least, asking for a retweet got me more retweets.
I talked to a few people about that as well and received different feedback. So, I decided to run a poll to see whether you are more or less likely to retweet, if someone asks for it in his/her tweet. Click here to continue reading.
Yesterday, Twitter was hit by a really nasty exploit. A worm, apparently originating from the owners of the website StalkDaily.com (even tho they claim they did not do it, do not visit this site for the time being), that can infect users simply by visiting a friend’s profile on Twitter.com.
Twitter said they have taken steps to remove the holes that allowed this worm to spread, but I have still seen some of the affected accounts after that. Click here to continue reading.
If you are new to twitter, let me first explain you what retweeting is. Retweeting is a process where people copy your message (tweet) to their followers. If somebody likes your tweet, they will retweet it and share it with their followers, so that more people can be aware of it. Retweeted posts are usually marked with a “RT @username” in front of the original message, or “via @username” after the original message. Click here to continue reading.
