Ever wondered how much your Twitter account is worth? Tweeter Value can put a price tag on your Twitter account. It is more for fun than for anything else. But we all like a bit of fun, don’t we?

What exactly does Tweeter Value do? It puts a theoretical value on a Twitter account, and that’s it. Keep in mind that buying and selling Twitter accounts is against Twitter Terms of Service, so don’t get any ideas. It’s meant to be used for fun.

How does it work? It uses an algorithm to estimate how much Twitter account could be worth. Many things are taken into consideration, including: followers, following and tweets.

And how much is your Twitter profile worth?

A couple of weeks ago TwitPic finally got a real competitor. It’s a new free photo sharing service for Twitter called TweetPhoto. And it will, as they say, significantly improve photo sharing experience on Twitter.

Similar to TwitPic, TweetPhoto users can easily upload photos and TweetPhoto will automatically publish those photos and turn them into tweets on Twitter. You use your Twitter name and password to use the site. It also supports uploads by email or mobile, and comments, but that’s where the similarities with TwitPic end.

With TweetPhoto you can:

Upload photos via mobile phone and the web to TweetPhoto

Share through Twitter and Facebook

Favorite the photos you like

See who views your photos; favorites your photos, comments on your photos

Track how many people looked at a photo

Automatically geo-tag photos sent from a GPS enabled phone

Use an integrated URL shortening service, http://pic.gd

Filter photos by Twitter or Facebook friends

Self-moderate comments

Search tagged photos throughout the site

Subscribe to RSS feeds by user or tags

TweetPhoto is changing the way photos are accessed and shared by Twitter users. TweetPhoto improves the photo consumption experience by extending the life of photos beyond the tweet. This empowers users to view photos shared by the people they follow on Twitter so they never miss a photo again.

What I really like about TweetPhoto, is that all of these features are easily accessible and discoverable from your dashboard view of photos hosted on the site. Tabs across the top navigation make it easy to view your photos, return to favorites, browse friends’ photos, and check out the public stream.

After checking it out, I must say I like TweetPhoto more than TwitPic and will use it as a primary app for sharing photos on Twitter. What do you think about TweetPhoto? Will you use it?

Yesterday, Twitter was hit by a really nasty exploit. A worm, apparently originating from the owners of the website StalkDaily.com (even tho they claim they did not do it, do not visit this site for the time being), that can infect users simply by visiting a friend’s profile on Twitter.com.

Twitter said they have taken steps to remove the holes that allowed this worm to spread, but I have still seen some of the affected accounts after that.

The code for infecting Twitter accounts resides on Twitter pages themselves. The malicious code is apparently hidden somewhere in the bio section of the affected profiles. You don’t have to click anything to get infected, simply visiting the compromised profile can get you infected with this worm.

BNOnews reports: 17-year-old claims responsibility for Twitter worm.

What to do if your account has been hijacked?

Turn off Java in your browser and clear out your cache and cookies.

In your Twitter account switch your bio back to normal.

As a precaution, change your Twitter password.

To prevent infection in future

Avoid visiting Twitter profiles until the issue is fixed. Both StalkDaily and Mikeyy are spreading by visiting user profiles on the web. You can’t do this in a Twitter client, so I suggest using a Twitter client like TweetDeck or similar.

Affected Twitter accounts tweet stuff about Mikeyy and StalkDaily.com. Don’t click on anything to do with either Mikeyy or StalkDaily.com.

Spam on Twitter is becoming a bigger problem day by day. I’m sure you’re used to get a notification email when someone follows you, but when you get it multiple times a day from same account, then you know something fishy is going on.

As a blogger Louis Gray reports in his blog post The Newest Annoyance on Twitter: Follow and Refollow Spam, he has noticed that some accounts are constantly following and re-following him.

What’s the point of re-following?

It’s about attention. Everytime you follow someone, your Twitter account shows up at the top of their followers list. Which means that people will notice your avatar and you will most likely get new followers. If they have a lot of followers, then you will get even more attention. Do this on multiple accounts and you will get a big number of followers simply for being on top of their followers list. Those people usually try to promote a product, so they want a big audience.

What can we do about it?

Well, until Twitter adds some spam prevention, like CAPTCHA or changes their API, there’s not much we can do about it. And even that would only prevent automatic re-following. For now we can observe, collect evidence and report anything suspicious to Twitter.

Such robotic behavior is apparently not allowed. And after Louis Gray brought those accounts to Twitter’s attention, they suspended them and now Twitter is taking a closer look at re-following.

What about you? Have you encountered anything similar?
